Team Manager - Warehouse Operations

A pivotal role in the delivery of our warehouse operations - a modern site with a mix of automated and manual processes, and a high volume of inbound and outbound activity. 

 
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the daily management of our warehouse operations.  Ensuring the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and maintaining consistent high standards in workplace safety, quality control and efficiency.  

You will also be responsible for engaging teams across the warehouse through open, positive and constructive communication. You will encourage your direct reports to lead by example and encourage them to be open to all types of feedback.

 With a strong commercial focus, you will plan resources for your shift in line with budgetary / forecasted needs; you'll ensure that the right level of headcount is maintained and engage with our recruitment partners as required.  You’ll also work closely with the training team to ensure that new starters receive essential training and support during their onboarding. 
 
 Your main responsibilities will be:

• Directly managing a team of five leaders, providing coaching and support to succeed in their roles, ensuring they have aligned goals, and are performing to expectations. 
• Supporting the Site Operations manager in developing the site strategy for people, cost, service, and safety. 
• Delivering an excellent customer experience, by managing the flow of work and ensuring delivery targets are met. 
• Maintaining target KPIs in the warehouse operations - receiving, picking, packing and dispatch, while managing unproductive hours ensure these are kept to a minimum.
• Investigating incidents in relation to HR policies or H&S procedures, ensuring full and comprehensive investigations are completed and producing written reports if needed.
• Working closely with the People Team to ensure that all relevant workflows are being correctly managed and actioned – e.g., timesheet approvals, absence management, contract offers, recruitment etc.
• Supervising the on-shift engineers to ensure they can complete their maintenance tasks. 
• Championing engagement on site – listening to employees, supporting their needs and resolving their queries. 

Experience as a Team Leader is essential and to succeed you will also need:

• Significant leadership experience of a large, diverse team within a fast-paced warehouse or retail environment
• Experience of resource planning
• Familiarity with Warehouse Management systems
• Proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint/Word and Outlook
• Strong analytical skills and experience working to KPIs and targets
• Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures
• IOSH Managing safely or NEBOSH general certificate - preferred
• Maths and English qualification at National Level 2 or equivalent

Please note:  this roles working hours are a rolling shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off, 8.00am to 8.00pm.
