Employee Relations Manager

 

Location: Coventry*

Salary: up to £55,000 p/a

Annual Bonus Scheme: OTE 10%

Holiday entitlement: 25 days plus Bank Holidays

 *Your role will be based in Coventry, with a regular travel requirement to our Goring-by-Sea warehouse. Any travel will be pre-arranged and expenses covered as per policy.

 

 

 

The Job:

 

We’re looking for an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our People Team. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead ER casework and support our operational teams in Coventry and Goring. You’ll be the go-to expert on employee relations, driving positive outcomes and ensuring we continue to create a supportive, compliant, and engaging workplace.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Skills transfer: Coach line managers in Employee Relations to develop their overall management effectiveness
  • Lead ER Casework: Manage behavioral and absence cases, aligning with policies and mitigating risks.
  • Provide Insights: Report on ER trends and collaborate on action plans to improve our workplace.
  • Be the Legal Expert: Advise on UK employment law, ensuring our practices remain compliant.
  • Support Talent Development: Partner with our Talent Development Manager to design and deliver learning initiatives.
  • Enhance Policies: Regularly review and update People Policies in line with governance standards.
  • Drive Change: Lead and support business change projects at both local and group levels.
  • Build Relationships: Foster strong connections with operational leaders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Support Wellbeing: Contribute to Talent Management, Employee Engagement, and Wellbeing initiatives.

Who We’re Looking For:

 

An experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee relations and a passion for making a positive impact. You should be confident in managing complex ER cases, knowledgeable about UK employment law, and skilled at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

 

  • CIPD level 5 essential, Level 7 desirable
  • Human Resources or Business degree would be beneficial
  • Demonstrated ER experience in an ER Leadership role in a fast paced logistics, retail or warehousing environment
  • Coaching and training delivery experience
  • Experience partnering client groups / stakeholders
  • Be able to make good judgment decisions and challenge stakeholders
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Strong organisation and facilitation skills
  • Strong written, verbal and numerical skills
  • Experience using HR systems and knowledge of data security compliance
  • Microsoft Office intermediate level is  critical for the role.

 

Hours of work:

 

37.5 per week with a minimum of 4 days on site (to be agreed with line manager)
