About the Role

As IM&T Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will work within the Totally PLC IM&T department as Senior Infrastructure Engineer assisting the Infrastructure Manager with the maintenance and improvement of the WAN, LAN, SAN and VOIP platforms. The Senior Infrastructure Engineers will assist in the delivery of the Infrastructure and Security strategies, ensuring they are delivered on time and in budget.

Your Day to Day

  • Assist with the delivery of a 24/7 Infrastructure in accordance with defined SLA’s
  • Work with the Infrastructure Manager to ensure Changes are planned and implemented in a structured and assured way
  • Support the delivery of an IT Infrastructure which is in line with Totally Plc’s Information Governance and Information Security policies
  • Ability to gather requirements and build a technical project plan and follow to delivery
  • Mentor junior members of the team and Service Desk colleagues.
  • Assist with regular testing of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans and contribute to their ongoing review
  • Support all Service Mobilisations
  • Assist in infrastructure incident management and resolution
  • Review the output reports of the backup system and report any failures to the Infrastructure Manager
  • Action any alerts generated by the monitoring systems in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the infrastructure change programme
  • Assist with the transition of IT systems to Hosted environments where required
  • Seek out, report, suggest mitigation to and action risks to the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the corporate infrastructure
  • Abide by all Security policies and procedures
  • Support the IT Service Desk function
  • Contribute to the Infrastructure strategy
  • Contribute to the IT Security strategy
  • Contribute to overall IT process design
  • Produce weekly and monthly analysis reporting
  • Produce Capacity planning and reporting for the estate and manage the outcomes
  • Proactively seek opportunities from across the organisation to improve the infrastructure
  • Maintain good working relations with all key suppliers
  • Assist with the documentation and change control processes associated with the infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT systems by assisting in the implementation and embedding of IT best practice
  • Maintain positive and effective working relations with all stakeholders
  • Contribute to regular on-call function
  • Other reasonable duties as required

Qualification, Experience & Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field or has relevant experience in a related work area
  • Previous experience of supporting a large scale IT infrastructure (including networking and telephony)
  • Previous experience of delivering 24/7 availability of infrastructure uptime
  • Strong knowledge of networks
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco network products
  • Strong knowledge of telephony (VOIP Contact Centre)
  • Experience of working with ISO standards e.g. ISO9001, ISO27001 etc
  • Microsoft SQL Cluster administration
  • Working knowledge of VMWare architecture
  • Working knowledge of HPE 3PAR Storage
  • Windows 2012R2/2016/2019
  • Ability to technically architect a project
  • Ability to successfully gather functional and non-functional requirements for projects.
  • Develop technical specification for projects
