Cloud Architect – Group Enablement Team (Manchester)

Gamma is a leading supplier of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS): we provide voice, data and mobile products and services to the UK, German, Spanish and Benelux business markets.

Gamma is expanding its UCaaS presence in Europe with a family of businesses focusing on digital automation, delivering Gamma-powered services to SME customers via a network of channel partners in Germany, Spain, and the Benelux region.

What will you be doing day-to-day? 📞

Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to define strategic direction for building applications and services in both public and private cloud environments. Develop and maintain frameworks for operating workloads efficiently and securely.

 

Collaboration and Technical Direction:

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand infrastructure requirements and provide technical direction and expertise for building and maintaining robust cloud environments.

Security and Risk Management:

    • Conduct threat modelling and risk assessments to ensure the security and compliance of cloud solutions.

Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for cloud architecture, offering training and guidance across the organization to promote best practices and cloud adoption.

Cloud Integration:

    • Act as the technical interface between on-premises infrastructure and cloud workloads, ensuring seamless integration and migration.

Architecture Design:

    • Design and implement cost-effective, cloud-native architectures for core business applications, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.

Framework Development:

    • Develop and maintain frameworks for effective workload management and operations in the cloud, ensuring consistency and reliability.

Best Practices and Standards:

    • Provide expertise and leadership on cloud architecture best practices, standards, and emerging technologies, translating industry best practices into actionable internal documentation.

Project Planning and Delivery:

    • Plan and deliver cloud architecture projects at both individual and team levels, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

Technical Documentation:

    • Publish and maintain a comprehensive set of technical artifacts that outline common approaches and solutions across the platform.

Leadership and Team Guidance:

    • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to the cloud architecture team, defining projects and roadmap items to support the overall group strategy.

Staff Development and Management:

    • Manage and appraise staff, fostering their development and ensuring high performance within the team, as needed based on the supported platform and area.

 

What you’ll need 🚀

    • Proven experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure.
    • Deep understanding of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Expertise in cloud security, governance, and compliance.
    • Strong background in designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing technical teams.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.

  • This role will require travel to one of our office locations (Manchester) once or twice a week.
