£12.04 per hour

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a seasonal Ice Rink Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the day-to-day running of ice rink operations, proven supervisory experience and an excellent knowledge of health and safety. Importantly, you will be responsible for ensuring the team are delivering a world-class experience to the thousands-of-visitors who skate on our rink, and motivating the team to work together and thrive during the busiest days of our winter season.

The Ice Rink Supervisors will lead on aspects of the day-to-day coordination and administration of the Ice Stewarding Team to ensure that the team is motivated, inspired and has the adequate information and training to carry out their roles for the day-to-day delivery of an excellent standard of customer service. This is an exciting, varied and diverse role where you will use innovative and interactive leadership as an opportunity to enhance the customer experience.

Must be available for training Monday-Friday week commencing 14th October.

Must be available for shifts during holiday periods (October half-term, Christmas, February half-term)

Role Purpose

Your role is to lead the team and supervise all aspects of the day to day Eden ice Rink operation to provide a safe and enjoyable winter activity. You will work alongside other Ice Rink Supervisors and report into the Ice Rink Manager to run and coordinate an effective daily schedule on an immaculate Ice Rink. You will strive to assist in delivering a world class experience at all times and champion this culture within the team.

                                                                                                                       

Key Accountabilities

 

  1. To assist the Ice Rink Manager in the set up and de-rig of the Ice Rink and to coordinate and run the day to day operation of the Eden ice Rink. To use effective organisation and communication skills in order to work alongside other supervisors in running schedules, leading on training and personnel administration, ensuring databases and reporting is up to date and maintaining robust controls and systems to support this.
  2. Alongside your team supervisors, you will work closely with the Ice Rink Manager, Duty Managers, Schools and Steward Team Leader Roles to ensure the daily operation of the Ice Rink is running and staffed seamlessly and is a safe and enjoyable experience for Eden Visitors at all times.
  3. To lead and supervise a team of Ice Stewards (up to 15 staff) and the deployment of these team members in collaboration with the Steward Team Leaders. Ensure that all Ice Stewards are trained and constantly updated on developments to the operation in particular the H&S aspects of the role.
  4. Exceptional understanding and positive attitude towards health and safety and the demands of the various roles of the team and their working conditions. To maintain and update operational systems and procedures.
  5. To always consider the wellbeing and safety of visitor and colleagues by working closely with the daily operational teams to prevent and solve visitor’s’ problems and actively championing service excellence and the Eden spirit.
  6. To collaborate on, contribute to, and maintain essential operating manuals including the Ice Rink standard operating procedure and risk assessments.
  7. To facilitate and assist in delivering events, and collaborate on the administration of the program of ice-skating lessons.

 

Demands of the Role

Education & qualifications

Operational experience of maintaining controls and systems within a multi skilled environment.

Knowledge & skills

ICT literate with a very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  The ability to organise and report on both your own work and the work of other team members.

Decision- making

Make day to day decisions in order to ensure that the daily operational delivery is seamless. Any complex, business critical decision making will be escalated to the Ice Rink Manager or Visitor Services Manager.

Resourcefulness

Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own and tackle challenges head on with a positive, can-do attitude.  The ability to work with other teams to plan and schedule delivery on site in the most organised and streamlined and sometimes creative way possible, often to extremely tight deadlines.

People & asset management

Ensure that the Team equipment and uniform is in working order and stored in a safe and secure place ready for the team to use. This role is responsible for the leadership of a team of between 10 and 15 members, leadership qualities and a positive ‘can do’ attitude are essential.

Communication & visitor experience

Communicate well at all levels when needed.  Positively champion and promote the visitor experience through all aspects of your role.

Occasional verbal and written communication with associates, clients and customers.

Operational environment

This role is an operational role which will involve liaising with colleagues at the same level and other relevant teams.  You will need to be able to self-motivate and work on your own although you will have regular contact with the Ice Rink Manager, Visitor Services Manager and the Duty Managers.  In order to meet operational site needs you may be required to work weekends and some evenings.
