Role: Cook and Resident Support
Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight
Contract: 16 hrs/week
Shift Pattern: 09:00 - 18:00, alternating weekends (overtime available)
Pay Rate: £12.58 - £12.85 per hour
The Abbeyfield Society is a national charity dedicated to alleviating loneliness and isolation among older people by offering companionship in our supported housing, retirement apartments, and care homes.
Abbeyfield is looking for a dependable and organised Cook and Resident Support team member to join our community in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
What We're Looking For:
- Confidence in cooking meals for up to 10 people
- Availability for alternating weekends, with potential for overtime
- Strong organisational skills and adaptability
- A commitment to excellent customer service, especially when supporting older people
- Basic computer skills (experience with Outlook and Excel is helpful; training provided for other systems)

About the Role:
At Abbeyfield, we are committed to creating a supportive community where residents feel empowered and safe. You’ll play a key role in this by preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals and being the first point of contact for residents who need support. Budget management and basic computer skills are a plus, but full training will be provided.
Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Two satisfactory employment references
- A Standard DBS check (paid for by Abbeyfield) You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
