Role: Cook and Resident Support
Location: Cockermouth
Contract: 24 hrs/week
Rota: 09:00 - 18:00

  • Week 1: Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
    Pay Rate: £12.58 - £12.85 per hour

The Abbeyfield Society is a national charity dedicated to alleviating loneliness and isolation among older people by offering companionship through our supported housing, retirement apartments, and care homes.

We are currently looking for a dedicated Cook and Resident Support team member in Cockermouth.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Confident in cooking for up to 12 people
  • Available to work alternating weekends (with overtime opportunities)
  • Highly organized and adaptable to changing situations
  • Strong customer service skills, especially in supporting older people
  • Basic computer skills (experience with Outlook and Excel is a bonus; full training will be provided)

About the Role:

As part of the team, you’ll ensure residents enjoy nutritious, home-cooked meals in a clean and welcoming environment. You will also be a key contact for residents, addressing any concerns and escalating issues when necessary. While budget management and basic IT skills are an advantage, full training and support will be provided.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Two satisfactory employment references
  • A Standard DBS check (paid for by Abbeyfield) You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
