About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a charity for older people which is focused on preventing and alleviating the loneliness that can come with later life. 

 

Abbeyfield is run as a membership organisation, and the needs and requirements of our English member societies are met by the Abbeyfield England Board.

You will work on behalf of the Abbeyfield England Board, reporting to the Partnership Team Manager.  You will be part of a small Partnership team and be responsible for developing and managing relationships with around 25 Abbeyfield member societies primarily across the Southwest of England (Shropshire to the Isle of Wight to West Cornwall).  The team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to members in line with our Value Proposition that maximise the impact, brand, and value of Abbeyfield.

Your responsibilities will include providing expert advice, guidance and support to member societies based around housing, care and community which helps them to succeed. Support will vary according to the needs of the member, ranging from general advice to intensive support as required.

You will champion the Abbeyfield brand, promoting good governance, quality & compliance.  The team will act a conduit between member societies and the Board, enabling risks and challenges to be shared and managed.

Through developing strong relationship with member societies, you will enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing, enabling best practice to be shared for the benefit of all.

You will ensure appropriate tools, information and support services are easily available to support member societies.

The role is home based but you ideally will be located in the Southwest of England in order to visit local member societies in the area.

About the team


The Partnership Team comprises of a Partnership Team Manager, two Partnership Managers and a Partnership Support Officer.

 

About the person          
You will have significant knowledge and experience in a managerial role in care or sheltered housing, such as a Housing Association or similar charitable context.  For this role we are ideally seeking someone with a care background. 

You must also have:

  • A strong grasp of relevant regulatory requirements as they relate the Care and or Sheltered Housing sectors, including the governance arrangements surrounding charities
  • Degree level education or similar with extensive experience in business-to-business customer relationship management with a variety of stakeholders
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements as necessary
  • Experience of developing and executing successful engagement plans
  • Ability to spot common connections, threads and interests between different communities and identify ideas to promote effective relationship building
  • Strong commercial awareness to develop business opportunities for the profession
  • Relationship building skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and deal confidently and diplomatically with stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering events and presentations to key stakeholders
  • Strong planning and organising skills and ability to prioritise
